Ну, Вы не являетесь одними, по крайней мере.
MSI GE40 здесь, с GTX 760M. Точно те же самые проблемы, optirun хорошо работает и имеет значение, но я не могу выключить дискретную карту (и это использует большую часть питания). Никакому/proc/acpi/bbswitch - bbswitch не нравится загружаться:

который говорит нам, что это - ошибка ядра от ядра 3.8.5-1. Надо надеяться, снова скоро будет рабочий выпуск ядра. Считайте тот поток, если Вы хотите скомпилировать свое собственное ядро или поддержать ядро к 3.8.4.
У меня была такая же проблема. Использовал Ubuntu 12.04 LTS с ядром 3.8.0-31 (ядро Ubuntu 13.04). Я смог настроить optirun и primusrun для работы, но bbswitch не будет автоматически отключать дискретный графический процессор после использования.
