Невозможно подключиться к Google Talk с помощью Pidgin (ошибка SASL)
После новой установки Ubuntu 11.10 Pidgin прекратил подключение к любому сервису Jabber (Google Talk и локальный чат). Странно то, что такая же конфигурация работает на ноутбуке с Ubuntu 11.10, но не на рабочей станции. Каталог .purple был скопирован с ноутбука на рабочую станцию, и он все еще не работает. Как видите, сертификат кажется действительным, проблемным является:
sasl: sasl_state is -1, failing the mech and trying again
Не включен брандмауэр так что должно быть что-то еще. Есть идеи?

По какой-то причине /etc/hosts содержало неправильное имя хоста для 127.0.0.1. После изменения он начал работать. Надежда тоже кому-то помогает :)
У меня была такая же проблема. Оказалось, что я включил двухэтапную проверку в своем аккаунте Google. Я просто зашел в настройки пароля своего приложения (в Google) и отменил доступ к Pidgin. Затем я добавил Pidgin и сгенерировал новый пароль для конкретного приложения, ввел его в настройки моей учетной записи Google Talk в Pidgin, теперь все работает как надо.
У меня была такая же проблема в Ubuntu 12.04. Когда я увидел предыдущий комментарий, я проверил /etc/hosts, и он был пустым. Итак, я добавил следующее:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 ubuntu
Вот как это выглядит сейчас:
root@ubuntu:/etc/apt/apt.conf.d# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 ubuntu
А затем
root@ubuntu:/etc/apt/apt.conf.d# /etc/init.d/networking restart

Выйдите из Pidgin и снова откройте его , Вуаля это работает как шарм сейчас. Надеюсь, это поможет и другим.
Проверьте имя хоста вашей системы в / etc / hostname. Затем измените его в файле / etc / hosts. Это решит вашу проблему: -)
