Ответ @ WarriorIng64 выше ответил на мой вопрос, но я не смог найти надежный документ для его проверки. Поэтому я задал вопрос в IRC-канале #ubuntu и получил комментарии от сверстников, подтверждающих ответ WarriorIng64 - "Patches are NOT integrated into the main build".
