lshw и lspci не могут найти устройство Ethernet

У меня есть материнская плата ASUS H87M-PLUS. Эта плата поставляется (в соответствии с руководством) с устройством Ethernet Realtek 8111G.

В BIOS устройство Ethernet включено.

Тем не менее, Linux не находит ни единого следа этого устройства.

Примечание: последняя запись - это карта WIFI, а не отсутствующее проводное Ethernet-устройство. Я попытался собрать модуль ядра r8168 с сайта Realtek. После сборки и вставки ничего не отображается в журнале ядра. Как и устройство.

Почему на моем сетевом устройстве нет никаких следов?
