Не удалось подключиться к archive.ubuntu.com:80, время ожидания подключения

It что добавление меню (даже пустого с «ind.set_menu (gtk.Menu ())» приводит к появлению индикатора состояния. Это желаемый результат?

Не ответ, но аналогичная проблема здесь. Вместо открытия нового потока.
