Установка парного монитора только отображается на iMac с сетчаткой на разрешении не по умолчанию

Я запускаю Ubuntu 17.10 на сетчатке iMac (обновление: обновленный теперь до 18,04, ничто измененное), с Dell как второй монитор. Разрешение по умолчанию iMac (первый монитор) 3840x2160 (16:9). В этой точке все является настолько крошечным, это нечитабельно, но по крайней мере я вижу второй монитор очень хорошо (разрешение 1920x1200 (16:10)).

Когда я изменяю разрешение iMac к 1920x1080 (16:9), второй монитор идет пробел. Окна, которые были расположены на него, все еще там (и не видимы), и я могу переместить мышь туда (не видимый).

Я использую Все Настройки | Дисплеи для изменения настроек. После изменения это просит сохранять его или нет, и независимо от того, что я отвечаю, второй монитор никогда не возвращается. Это остается неприменимым после перезагрузки также.

Я не знаю, релевантно ли это, но я установил Ubuntu на внешнем диске SSD, работающем на iMac несетчатки, и затем позже я заменил iMac сетчаткой. Все, кажется, хорошо работает (до сих пор) кроме разрешения дисплея.

Как я могу зафиксировать или отладить это?

Вы можете решить эту проблему, переключившись на Gnome Desktop и / или обновив Ubuntu 18.04. Настройки дисплея в этой версии имеют более продвинутые опции, которые позволяют изменять разрешение основного монитора, не отключая второй.

Обратите внимание, что при изменении разрешения для 1-го дисплея (iMac) с 3840x2160 (16: 9) на 1920x1200 (16:10), расположение дисплея может внезапно измениться, чтобы выглядеть примерно так с двумя не соединенными дисплеями:

В этом состоянии нет видимой кнопки Apply , и сохранить изменения невозможно, потому что, естественно, в режиме Join Display дисплеи должны касаться друг друга. Чтобы исправить настройку и сохранить изменения с измененным разрешением, переместите дисплеи рядом друг с другом, чтобы они выглядели примерно так (обратите внимание на зеленую кнопку Применить в правом верхнем углу):
