Вы как-то дали права на выполнение файла README , и сценарий update-grub пытается его выполнить. Отсюда и ошибки.
Так что удалите права на исполнение
sudo chmod -x /etc/grub.d/README

Также убедитесь, что в вашем разделе есть место ... с помощью команды терминала
df -h
...

Я не думаю, что вы проблема в том, что у вас слишком много образов ядра в /boot.
Похоже, у вас есть ошибка в вашем файле конфигурации grub. Здесь, кажется, что-то ломается:
