Ноутбук моей жены OSX не загрузится. Я вытащил диск и включил его в USB-адаптер и вижу его от моего ноутбука Ubuntu.

Первый шаг является попыткой сделать резервное копирование Вашего раздела. Включите внешний диск и попытайтесь смонтировать свой системный диск. Можно сделать это от пользовательского интерфейса Ubuntu или командной строки:
sudo mount /dev/sdc2 /mnt
cp -a /mnt/ /media/live/usb (you might adapt the folder path with mounted location).
Затем можно попытаться использовать testdisk утилита, которая является полезным восстановлением схемы раздела. В основном, как можно использовать его из Ubuntu Живой USB.
apt install testdisk
Затем работайте на своем жестком диске
testdisk /dev/sdc

* Eventually choose Backup to make a backup of your current partition schema.
* Quick Search
* If the tool found partition, you can try to Write (be very careful of what you do at this stage as you might loose all partitions and data included - again be sure you have a backup).
Конечно, можно попытаться обновить встроенное микропрограммное обеспечение жесткого диска, но не уверенные, что это - проблема. Похож на Ваш сектор раздела, не округлен правильно.
