wireless usb adaptor problems (system hangs)

I am trying to использовал an asus usb-ac51 wireless adaptor to get Интернет on my desktop персональный компьютер running Ubuntu 15.10. I installed the драйвер for linux that was provided with the accompanying СD for the usb device.

However when I open в browser (Firefox 42.0) and begin to type something in, the computer hangs completely. None of the methods to restart or shut down works and I have to turn off the power переключатель manually. All seems to be going well until something is typed into the browser.
