Указанные шаги были следующими:

sudo apt-get install build-essential
./configure --prefix=/usr 
make

Исходя из экосистемы JavaScript / Python, я очень мало экспериментировал с make и configure , поэтому я очень благодарен за любую помощь .

Это более или менее удачная догадка, которая только что решила проблему.


Из журнала ./ configure выскакивают две вещи:

Хотя не обязательно проблема, часто используется pkg-config с помощью систем сборки для поиска файлов заголовков, библиотек и параметров ссылок. Возможно, все необходимое для сборки программного обеспечения уже установлено в вашей системе, но сценарий ./ configure не может найти его без помощи pkg-config ;

и

, что странно, потому что Ubuntu 18.04 должен предоставлять libusb-1.0-0-dev версию 1.0.21 и libusb-dev версии 0.1.12 соответственно. Как отмечалось выше, это может быть потому, что сценарий не может найти их без помощи pkg-config , или может быть потому, что пакеты разработки еще не установлены в вашей системе.

В любом случае, попытка установить все три пакета не причинит никакого вреда:

sudo apt install pkg-config libusb-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev

а затем начать с нуля.
