VLC не думает, что файл содержит что-либо, что может играться.
Как muru упомянутый, vlc сказанный Вас:

Ни один из предыдущего или последующего вывода не особенно воодушевил или предположил, что у Вас был реальный, рабочий видеофайл, также. file управляйте обычно, только смотрит на или около начала файла предположить его тип, и vlc смог попытаться играть файл, но он не смог найти что-либо в нем, что он мог играть, ни даже что-либо, что было похоже на него, мог играться, если бы у Вас было больше установленных кодеков.
"Попытка повторно синхронизировать" часть, возможно, привела к лучшим результатам, если проблема состояла в том, что файл правильно не читался, но это не было.
Это похоже, это не файл AVI вообще, вместо того, чтобы нуждаться в кодеках.
Прежде, чем прийти к заключению, что данные это было дано, был мусор, vlc показал, что Вы обмениваетесь сообщениями как это:
